The College's first contribution to Culture Night on Friday last was a great success.
In addition to the musical and architectural offerings, visitors on the night were given a rare opportunity to view four Irish language manuscripts held by the College.
Indexed as Lamhscríbhinní I, II, III, IV) they contain mainly religious or devotional material , including versions of Aodh Mac Aingil’s Scáthán Shacramuinte na hAithridhe. LIII is of particular interest in that is it is written on the back of printed acts of the parliament in Dublin, which date from 1772.
The main event of the evening was a recital of César Franck's 'Violin Sonata', Arvo Pärt's reflective 'Spiegel im Spiegel' and the 'Andantino malincolico' by George Enescu by
Darragh Morgan (violin) and Mary Dullea (piano), both members of The Fidelio Trio, the newly
appointed ensemble-in-residence at the College's music department.
Congratulations to all involved!
