Bradaíl!

We strongly recommend you have a look at UCD Library’s new Irish language version of their excellent tutorial on Avoiding Plagiarism: Bradaíl: Seachain í thar aon rud eile!.

This is the first Irish language open educational resource (OER) plagiarism tutorial. All translation and narration was kindly provided by Bord na nGaeilge, UCD.

Plagiarism.org & Turnitin

Any staff currently using turnitin.com OriginalityCheck to help their students with proper citation and referencing may also find plagiarism.org of interest.

Plagiarism.org is an information resource created by turnitin which contains guidelines on plagiarism and best practices for ensuring originality in written work. It includes an "ask the experts" feature, FAQs, and a resource section with downloadable handouts for students.  Please note that some   information may refer to other resources not currently available to SPD staff.

Any lecturers who would like to get started with turnitin should contact the Library to request an instructor account.  This will allow you to create classes and assignments for your students to register in and submit their own assignments to.

A Few Words on Avoiding Plagiarism...

Students who want to know more about how to avoid plagiarism should visit plagiarism.org, an excellent site with lots of information on what is and isn't considered plagiarism and how to avoid the pitfalls. You can see the College policy on plagiarism here.

For staff of St. Patrick's College we provide Turnitin, a web-based program allowing you or your students to submit a document and obtain an 'originality report'. It gives feedback on referenced sources and details as to where further referencing is required.
